BitMEX vs Binance
Binance settles more futures volume in a single day than most exchanges clear in a year. That scale is the whole story here, and also the reason it may not fit you. BitMEX closes on 23 September 2026, and Binance is the obvious first name people reach for. Below is the full field-by-field breakdown, and an honest look at who actually gets to use it.
The short version
Binance is the largest derivatives venue on the planet: around $54B in daily futures volume, up to 125x on BTC, inverse COIN-M perps, and quarterly proof of reserves. The catch is access. It blocks the US and the UK, and full features need KYC, so no-KYC traders are pushed elsewhere. We have no affiliate relationship with Binance, so this page rates it purely on the numbers.

Binance is fully operational while BitMEX counts down. The catch is at the door. Binance shuts out two of the markets BitMEX traders most often sit in, the US and the UK, and there is no practical no-KYC path.

Fees
BitMEX charged a flat 0.05% both sides. Binance undercuts the maker side and cuts deeper for anyone holding BNB, though the taker rate lands in the same place.

Who should switch from BitMEX to Binance
If you can legally reach the full Binance platform and you are fine verifying your identity, it is hard to argue with the depth. You get inverse COIN-M perps, options, dated futures, up to 125x on BTC, and a book so deep that slippage barely registers. For a verified trader outside the blocked regions, that combination is tough to beat.
The honest problem is access. Binance shuts out the US and the UK, along with Canada, the Netherlands and several sanctioned regions, and the unverified allowance of roughly 0.06 BTC a day is far too small to trade around. In practice it is a powerful venue that most BitMEX refugees will find either off-limits or KYC-bound. Whether you can use it is a question for your own local law, not us, and none of this is legal advice.
If handing over ID on day one is the dealbreaker, Blofin keeps the parts of BitMEX you actually miss, coin-margined perps and a no-KYC tier, which is why it tops our list. Compare it directly in BitMEX vs Blofin, and if you are in the US or UK look at BitMEX vs BTCC or the higher-liquidity BitMEX vs Bybit. Either way, weigh them against the full shortlist of best BitMEX alternatives.
Want the no-KYC route instead?
Binance is powerful but effectively KYC-bound and closed to the US and UK. If you left BitMEX to keep trading inverse perps without full verification, Blofin is our top pick. Set it up before you withdraw so there is no gap.

BitMEX vs Binance FAQ
Can US or UK traders use Binance?
Not the main Binance.com platform. It restricts the US, where a separate Binance.US entity runs, and the UK, where new signups were closed and derivatives access curbed. Canada, the Netherlands and several sanctioned regions are blocked too. Check your own local rules first; this is not legal advice.
Does Binance require KYC?
For anything useful, yes. Full access and higher limits need identity verification. An unverified account is capped at roughly 0.06 BTC per day in withdrawals, too tight for most derivatives traders, so Binance is effectively KYC-bound.
Does Binance have inverse perps like BitMEX?
Yes. Binance runs COIN-M contracts settled in the coin itself, next to its far larger USDT and USDC markets, with BTC leverage up to 125x. The inverse perp BitMEX pioneered lives on here.
Is Binance safe after the 2019 hack?
Binance lost about 7,000 BTC (~$40M) in a 2019 breach and has had no comparable loss since. It now publishes quarterly proof of reserves using a Merkle tree with zk-SNARKs. Set that against BitMEX, which reports zero funds lost to hacks since 2014.
